About
Ayyaz Amjad

Ayyaz Amjad (b. 1991) is a Pakistani-American artist, videographer, motion designer and animator. Since 2021 he has been a Senior Communications Analyst (Media Specialist) with Prince William County, Virginia, where he produces video, motion graphics and broadcast content for the county’s Office of Communications & Engagement and PWC-TV: public-safety and health campaigns, community programming, employee profiles and short-form explainers for the county’s digital channels.
He completed his BFA in Kinetic Imaging with a concentration in Video, Animation and Sound Art from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013. Born and raised in Virginia, Amjad explores the integration of Islamic, Pakistani and American culture by combining allegories from each society and exploring imagery that communicates the hybridity of his life experiences. He strives to:
“capture life as art, synthesizing experimentation and new media to tell stories, memories, and dreams.”
Before joining the county, Ayyaz spent seven years at Cvent (2014–2021), where as lead Senior Videographer he managed all video and motion-graphics content for the brand: corporate videos, online ads, event coverage, promotional films, globally live-streamed events and countless internal projects. Earlier he was a motion designer at MediaGeneralFX, a broadcast design studio in Richmond, and a creative designer for Islamic Relief USA, work that earned him the 2011 Bronze Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
His video and animation work has been recognized nationally: ‘You Don’t Smoke Cigarettes, Cigarettes Smoke You’ won the 2012 national prize in the Surgeon General’s ‘Tobacco — I’m Not Buying It’ competition; the ‘Cvent ALS Ice Bucket Video’ was named 2015 ‘Best Corporate ALS Ice Bucket Video’ by the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter; ‘Our Cvent Story’ took the 2017 Platinum Award (Cultural Video) at the AVA Digital Awards. His county programming has since earned a 2024 NATOA Government Programming Award of Honor (“Stroke Smart PSA”), two 2025 NATOA Awards of Distinction (“How I Serve”, “Shorter Topics”) and two Silver Telly Awards in 2025 (“How I Serve”, “The Trashy Driver”).
As AYZ, his sound work is influenced by avant-garde art and hip-hop. He performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 2015, took part in a live notated, video-based sound performance at the 2012 InLight Richmond Festival, and released his first mixtape/album ‘Conquest of the Inner Sanctum’ in 2012 with producer Shawn Amjad. He has performed at events across Virginia and was crowned ‘Mr. South Asia 2012’ at VCU.
Ayyaz lives in Woodbridge, Virginia. Off the clock you will find him skiing or on a basketball court.
